My trip to Spain has been all about creating balance in my life. Balance of food, wine, learning how to relax and slow down. I am not really sure why I felt the need to work myself so hard between my day job and starting my business as a life and weight loss coach; but I was not sleeping well, waking up at 4 am thinking of everything I needed to do and not doing a very good job prioritizing family, work and business/networking. I was making working, my business and then family a priority and you know that the 3rd thing you try to do gets the least attention.
In Spain, the pace is slower, people take a siesta in the afternoon. I learned how to take a nap, sip some cava (Spanish champagne) and slow down and take in the scenery. I realized that my priorities were out of order and only I could change that by scheduling family and relax/nap time first, then work and then business. I will put pen and paper by my bed and write things down before going to bed or if I wake up, write down what is weighing on my mind and go back to bed. Learning to relax a little will probably help me in my business to have more fun and enjoy the process instead of go, go, go all the time.
How did I do on my healthy eating plan on vacation? I did pretty well. I stayed away from the bread and pastries and had 1 big meal daily and 1-2 smaller ones. I had dessert every day but the portions were very small. I ate till I was full and then stopped but luckily the portions were not big like in Texas. My husband and I shared some plates in the evenings because often the big meal was at lunch. I have not weighed myself yet but I can still fit in my clothes so I think I maintained my weight which was my goal. At the airport I had Caesar salad with chicken which I also found everywhere in Spain.
